Labor Day Weekend

It's Labor Day Weekend, folks. It's the unofficial end of summer and the start of another school year. That and fall is not too far away. I'll take it. I've had enough of the heat and humidity. I much prefer spring and fall since the temperatures are moderate and the weather a bit more predictable. Hope everyone out there has a great weekend.

Olympics Are Over

The Olympics are over. Now what is there to watch? I know there's plenty of shows on but there's just something about the Olympics. Probably the once every four years makes it special. That and the fact that the athletes are competing for their country rather than a single team. Even if you don't win a medal, it's an achievement just to qualify to compete. Here's a hat's off to all the athletes who competed in Beijing. Well done, everybody.

Politics

Well, here we go. Obama picked Joe Biden as his running mate. And John McCain has started the mudslinging. Also, Hillary's supporters are having hissy fits that she wasn't vetted and chosen. Get over it people. Obama had to pick someone that would complement his abilities and bolster his weaknesses. Joe Biden has the foreign policy experience that Obama doesn't and will be a good advisor.

Hillary Clinton's supporters should listen to Hillary and put their efforts to getting Obama elected. I wouldn't be surprised if Obama picks Hillary for a cabinet post. She's got the experience and would be an effective cabinet member.

What everyone needs to do is work to get Obama elected. One thing we don't need is four more years of the Bush way of screwing the country up. He has been one of the worst presidents we've ever had to put up with. His gross incompetence and negligence are criminal. Why he hasn't been impeached is beyond me. He lies to the country and gets us involved in a useless war and he isn't called to task? Bill Clinton has a fling and everyone gets their panties in a bunch. No, I don't condone what he did but he didn't get anyone else's family member killed. There's a big difference.

The Republicans talk about returning to old fashioned American values. What they mean is to have women staying home with no real rights, kids ignorant about sex and to put them colored people in their place. They want to turn the clock back to the 1950's. It's the 21st century people and it's time we as a society started acting like it.

Olympics

Been watching the Olympics the last two weeks. It's been interesting. Michael Phelps won eight gold medals and the winner of the women's marathon won by a one minute (more or less) margin. It's been fun.

It's Been A While

It's been a while since I thought about posting. Been busy with other things. Summer's almost over, much to my delight. I'm not much of a summer person. The heat isn't so bad but the humidity we get aggravates my eczema. That and the feeling I get when the air is so humid you can hardly breathe. The high pollen and air pollution don't help either. We've had some really great weather recently with low humidity and a touch of fall in the evenings. Love it.

Better Weather

Better weather, finally. I plan to get out and shoot some pictures some time this week. Tomorrow isn't looking too good but I'll play it by ear and see what the light is like. Wednesday and Thursday are looking better. We'll see. It's been a while since I had a chance to shoot anything. I enjoy taking pictures and getting outside. I also could use the exercise.

Putting Things on Hold

I'll probably be putting the photography on hold for a while. I'll be concentrating on some other things for a bit so I can generate income to pay for everything. I'll get back to the photography when I have the time and money to do so. In the meantime, I've got some projects I'm looking at.

It Never Fails

Never did get to take any photos today. Had too many other things to do. The best laid plans. There's always tomorrow or the next day or whenever so I'm not too bummed about it. It was good shooting weather today. Sunny and clear and good morning and afternoon light. There'll be other days like this and they'll be a bit warmer, too, so no heavy clothes. Other than not shooting, it was a fairly productive day.

Good Weather

Finally some good weather for shooting. It's supposed to be nice and sunny tomorrow so I can get out and get some shots. Have to get some better shots for the stock and some new stuff to post on my online gallery and such. Plus I need the exercise.

Took the Plunge

Well, I took the plunge and applied to iStockphoto as a contributor. It'll be at least two weeks before I get an answer but I'm patient. I've got plenty to work on in the meantime. Maybe I'll finally get the studio set up in the back room.

Sorting, sorting, sorting

Spent part of today sorting through my photos to find some to upload as samples for a stock agency. Scoped the site and I think I have some that will make the grade. Here's hoping. Have to finish going through them and then scan and tweak them in Photoshop. It'll be worth it.

Career Changes

I'm finally getting going on the career change. Getting things together to start selling my photography and start an online business (or two). Can't believe I waited this long. Or maybe I can. I've always been a bit of a procrastinator. Go to stop doing that.

I've been into photography and art for a while and finally decided to make my hobby pay for itself. I enjoy it so why not do it for real. It'll beat punching someone else's time clock on their schedule instead of mine.
